Allen Iverson Thinks His Crossover Of Michael Jordan Is Better Than The Tyronn Lue Stepover

Ask most any NBA fan what the most memorable Allen Iverson moment is and they’ll tell you it’s him stepping over Tyronn Lue. It’s an iconic moment in NBA history, and one that sticks out in everyone’s mind as the ultimate A.I. play.

However, if you ask Iverson, he has a different answer. Iverson went on SportsCenter on Monday night and was asked which play he found more memorable between the Lue stepover and his crossover of Michael Jordan (which happened 20 years ago).

“You gotta say the Mike joint,” Iverson said. “Because it was Mike! The greatest player ever to play the game.”

Iverson was then asked if he and Jordan have talked about it since and if he’s ever messed with him about it. Iverson insisted he hadn’t and told a funny story about telling MJ how much he grew up loving him, with Jordan sniping back about the crossover.

“I went to a Charlotte game. I live in Charlotte,” Iverson said. “Me and him was in the back and I was telling him how much I loved him and admired him, and how much he was my hero. And he was like, ‘I couldn’t have been too much of a hero to you if you crossed me like that.’”

It’s an extremely Jordan response, and it’s funny to hear Iverson recant it as you can hear the reverence he has for Jordan as he tells the story.
