Illegal immigration was a truly high priority for most of the presidential candidates this year, and that is normal since Trump gave his famous “wall” idea. And since it is such a genius idea, the Democrats are now doing everything they can to block it.
But we don’t believe that they will cause a huge problem as Trump has assembled members of his Cabinet which are going to offer a hard look at how to handle the current immigration crisis. And Trump made it very clear that he is serious about this problem when he selected the retired Marine General John Kelly to lead the Department of Homeland Security.
General Kelly has thrown out some quite good ideas that are bound to make the Democrats cringe, while making everyone else excited. This Tuesday, he promised to enforce laws against sanctuary cities as well as to deport people faster. So he is basically telling the illegals to watch their backs.
According to Gen. Kelly, the U.S. Border Patrol agents will be allowed to go after migrants. He also struck Obama’s administration with a critic for giving a free 8 year “pass” to the illegal immigrants that were caught within the U.S. border.
“I don’t think I have the authority to pick and choose what laws need to be followed. I think it’s, in a lot of ways, dangerous to think you can pick and choose laws.” And we completely agree with him.
But the sweetest thing about this has to be the fact that the confirmations of Gen. Kelly are a 100% certain as there isn’t much Democrats can do now to stop him. They’ve had their free ride these 8 years but now, things are going to change for the better.
And although General Kelly is going to re-think about deporting illegal immigrants which were given amnesty by Obama back in 2012, he does think that immigrants need to be deported in large numbers, and the sooner the better.
“I believe that rapidly processing and returning aliens to their countries of origin in significant numbers will help to immediately and significantly reduce the number of individuals and groups trying to enter the country illegally. It will not be worth the investment of their life savings to get here, and it will not be worth making the dangerous trip north, if they know they will quickly be put on a bus or aircraft and returned south.”
