Now that change agent Donald Trump is in the White House, Democrats in Democratic majority states suddenly care about “states rights” and are scrambling to do whatever they can to try and “protect” themselves from the changes Trump is trying to make to reverse our country’s course.
Some states have resorted to truly desperate moves, such as California, which hired disgraced former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder to represent it. Another state just made a far more extreme move, and just hired Al Qaeda’s lawyer.
You would have to be a truly twisted person to defend an al Qaeda member and close acquaintance of Osama bin Laden in a court case, but that is exactly what a lawyer named Neal Katyal did, and now Hawaii decided to use taxpayer funds to hire him.
Explained the Washington Free Beacon about what Katyal did, “Neal Katyal sued the U.S. government in 2006 on behalf of Osama Bin Laden’s bodyguard, Samir Hamdan in the landmark legal case Hamdan v. Rumsfeld. In his arguments, however, Katyal made several questionable arguments, including equating the criminal justice rights of legal U.S. green card holders to captured foreign al Qaeda terrorists under the military commission system at the time.”
Is sick as this is, former President Obama actually considered nominating Katyal to be a Supreme Court Justice, but thankfully decided against this. Do you think it is disturbing that the state of Hawaii just hired al Qaeda’s lawyer?
