It is disgusting how coddled some of today’s college students are by our country’s institutions of higher learning, many of which are still led by extreme liberals who came of age during the 1960’s and 1970’s.
The demands of these liberal students to have “safe spaces” is so embarrassing that it was even parodied in a memorable run of episodes on satirical show South Park. Now, however, some crazy radical minority students have just taken their demands to the next level.
According to reports, activist minority students at the taxpayer funded public University of Michigan are now demanding that their famous school have a “safe space” devoted just to students of color and that bars any white students from entering.
This is despite the fact that these students already have a multicultural center on campus. These non-white students demanded that the university administrators “create a permanent designated space on central campus for Black students and students of color to organize, and do social justice work.”
They continued, This is not the same as Trotter Multicultural Center, because we want a space solely dedicated to community organizing and social justice work specifically for people of color. We want documentation of past, current, and future student activism and this should be a permanent space that is staffed, and has resources for students to organize and share resources.”
Thankfully, University of Michigan administrators denied their request, saying in effect that they cannot and will not bar white students from entering any place on the college campus. The administrators wrote, “It is not possible to sanction individuals for exercising their constitutionally protected rights to free speech.” The students, however, have vowed to keep trying to get their way. Do you hope the liberal administrators don’t cave?
