New York Post app sends ‘Heil President Donald Trump’ alerts after apparent hack

An April Fools’ Day hack targeted the New York Post with a flurry of bizarre news alerts hailing President Trump as a German führer.
“Heil President Donald Trump,” stated one alert around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, before chiming in with at least eight more push notifications for those with the Rupert Murdoch-owned mobile app.
“Hear me now, for I speak as an angel in the words of God,” the message continued. “In casting truth into the darkness of your shadow, you have gravely sinned… and yet, for your generosity of spirit and sharpness of mind, salvation remains within reach.”
Another message included lyrics from Nirvana’s 1991 hit “Come As You Are.”

The alerts appear to be directed at Trump, asking the President to “open your heart to those you do not understand.”
Trump is a known Post reader but it’s unclear if he received the message loud and clear. He prefers reading the newspaper in print, Axios reported in January.
The culprit was not identified and signed off “with lucid love, Selah.”
The first alert appears to have been aimed at President Trump.

The Post acknowledged in another alert that its “push notification system was compromised this evening,” without elaborating how it was hacked.
“We are working to resolve the issue. Please accept our apologies.”
