Shaq Ranked The Best Centers Of All-Time, And Put Himself In Elite Company

Shaquille O’Neal is often the center of all things, but can he accurately rank himself among the best centers of all time?

Shaq was asked on TNT’s Players Only to rank the best NBA centers of all time. You may remember, of course, that Shaq himself was a center. So how did he do in this showdown between his self-confidence and his knowledge of NBA history?

NBA on TNT

The Big Fella’s “top centers to ever play the game.” Who makes your list?

That’s not bad at all when Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are the guys you got beat by. Shaq ranks himself solidly third, which makes you think he actually tried to rank these guys because he could have easily pulled the ego card and put himself number one. It’s elite company either way, especially for a guy who couldn’t make free throws to save his life.

Question is, who does Shaq beat out in his own mind? Well, Wilt Chamberlain at No. 4 is an interesting pick. Wilt could certainly score more than Shaq, beating him in basically everything but NBA titles.

Rounding out his list is Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson and Patrick Ewing. That seems like a slight to Moses Malone, but Shaq definitely knows the position, and himself, better than I do. Plus, he once did this, so he can rank himself wherever the heck he wants.
