After the state-socialist economy collapsed in the 1990s, the regime was no longer able to provide for the people, and up to a million North Koreans lost their lives in the resultant famine.
The famine and grassroots marketization triggered unprecedented levels of internal and cross-border movement–much of it illegal–and trade with the outside world.
It is illegal for the North Korean people to leave their country without the regime’s permission, and the regime attempts to restrict the people’s movement even inside their own country.
Organized religion is seen as a potential threat to the regime and therefore nothing apart from token churches built as a facade of religious freedom for foreign visitors are allowed.
And this is just the beginning of the corruption North Koreans face on a daily basis…

If the North Koreans haven’t noticed it already they will soon — there’s a new sheriff in town. They’re no longer dealing with the weak American President who drew imaginary red lines in the sand and thought that hashtags were the best way to deal with the low life thugs and terrorists of the world.
That was Barack Obama… THIS is Donald Trump.
Not only did North Korea recently test fire missiles that landed dangerously close to Japan, but they also put the US on notice that they were preparing for an all out war. Recently it came to light that within a few short years they would have a missile capable of carrying a nuclear war head to Japan, and US bases all around the Pacific — including Hawaii. Left undeterred, a nuclear Pearl Harbor would not only become possible, but likely.
The situation has gotten so bad that some Japanese are calling for their military to launch pre-emptive strikes against the North Koreans — and it looks like Trump may be on board with that idea.
Over the weekend, we moved our THAAD Missile Defense System into South Korea and today Trump is upping the ante by sending B-52 bombers to South Korea. These bombers are specifically designed to carry nuclear bombs! It looks like the Kim Jong Un has picked a fight with the wrong guy!
