Another pitiful attempt by the liberal mainstream media to demonize President Donald Trump as an “Islamophobe” and claim that his immigration moratorium is a “Muslim ban” has failed — surprise, surprise.
This particular attempt began last week when Ibtihaj Muhammad, who rose to fame last year when she became the first female American Muslim to win an Olympic medal for the United States, complained in an interview with PopSugar that she had been detained “just a few weeks ago” by U.S. customs officials with no explanation.
Time magazine, The Washington Post and the New York Daily News all ran with the story, with the latter going so far as to claim her detention “illustrates why Trump’s Muslim ban is not who we are as Americans.”

Moreover, according to a customs official with direct knowledge of the incident, there was nothing extraordinary about the woman’s detention.
“She wasn’t targeted,” the official told the Washington Examiner. “The checks are totally random, random checks that we all might be subject to.”
The official also claimed that her detention had only lasted about an hour, versus the two hours she had claimed to PopSugar.
“Well, I personally was held at Customs for two hours just a few weeks ago,” Muhammad had stated. “I don’t know why. I can’t tell you why it happened to me, but I know that I’m Muslim. I have an Arabic name. And even though I represent Team USA and I have that Olympic hardware, it doesn’t change how you look and how people perceive you.”
Writing for Breitbart, Dylan Gwinn asked, “What do you get when you combine fake news with fake victimhood?”
You get this: a Muslim woman falsely claiming to be a victim over having had to undergo a common procedure experienced by millions of Americans — and then unscrupulous liberal media outlets bandying about her story to gin up points against the Trump administration.
This is fake news at its finest, and as usual its purveyors are of course the liberal media.
