NFL Player Pulls Move For Murdered Teens That Could Change the Minds of Those Protecting the Killer

Abigail “Abby” Williams and Liberty “Libby” German were hiking the trails at Deer Creek in Delphi, Indiana, one Monday afternoon like many teens from their hometown do.

According to earlier reports, 13-year-old Abby and 14-year-old Libby asked their parents to drop them off at Monon High Bridge. The abandoned railroad is reportedly a very popular spot where kids from the area stop to take photos.

According to local mom Molly Johnson, the bridge is a safe place many young people enjoy. She told WLFI-TV:

“Kids go swimming there. They go fishing. They jump in it. They take senior pictures there. They go and hangout. It’s a very friendly, safe place that anybody and everybody has been to.”

This was one of the last photos taken of Abby alive as she and Libby enjoyed the popular spot:

According to WKRN, both Libby’s and Abby’s bodies were found in a wooded area just three-quarters of a mile from the bridge on Tuesday, February 14, 2017.

Their deaths have since been ruled a homicide, and authorities believe one man is responsible.

Indiana State Police released photos of a man they described as Caucasian, wearing light blue jeans, a blue jacket, and a brown hat:

It was later revealed that Libby was the one who took the photos of their suspected killer.

In fact, Libby took a video of the man moments before her death. He can be heard saying, “down the hill,” during the recording.

Authorities admitted they are not positive if the man in the video matches the man in the photo, yet their sole suspect remains the man in the picture.

In a press conference Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Sergeant Tony Slocum called Libby a hero for filming her suspected killer. They hope the audio will aid them in their quest for justice:

“This young lady’s a hero, there’s no doubt about it.

To activate the video system on her cell phone to record criminal behavior that’s about to occur … there’s no doubt in our minds that [this] young lady is a hero.”

Now, former Indianapolis Colts punter, Pat McAfee and current Colts owner, Jim Irsay, are doing what they can to help Indiana State police capture Abby’s and Libby’s murderer.

According to ABC News, McAfee and Irsay have doubled the reward for anyone who comes forward with information that can lead to an arrest in the case.

The reward now stands at $200,000.

McAfee explained to ABC News why he and his former boss donated the amount of money:

“The only people that are really going to know who this is, is somebody who’s had a long relationship with this person, whether it’s family or friends or something like that, and they’re probably struggling with loyalty right now, but this is a horrible person.

We thought that $200,000 is a life-changing amount of money. Hopefully, we just spread the word across the country, find this monster, get him off the street, which would be good for America, good for Indiana, just good for everybody.”

McAfee also plans to travel to meet with the victims’ families sometime soon and has admitted to having a good feeling about the outcome of this still ongoing investigation:

“I think we’re going to catch the guy and I can’t wait to get up there and celebrate that.”

According to Sergeant Slocum, the full video captured by Libby, and other evidence recovered from the girls’ phones, will not be released while the investigation remains open.

He also praised McAfee and Irsay for their generosity.
