Less than a week after he stood on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. and took the oath of office as the 45th president, Donald Trump is creating a whirlwind of activity that has left the media gasping as they try to keep up and the public stunned to see a politician actually doing what he promised to do.
Trump has moved forward on all of the critical issues he identified during the campaign – the repeal and replacement of Obamacare, securing the border, creating jobs, opening up the Keystone and Dakota Access pipelines, reinstating the prohibition on taxpayer funding of foreign abortions with executive orders being signed and issued at a rapid-fire pace.
The continuing, even mounting hostile reactions from Democrats, progressives and leftist contingents in other groups, have emboldened the media to create news intended to not only show the new president in the worst possible light, but to publish misinformation to foster fear anger.
Amid rumors that Trump intends to create a so-called “Muslim registry,” as a step toward mass deportation, a Nigerian news site reported that 92 Africans were summarily sent back to their “country of origin” on an American charter flight under Trump’s orders.
Naij.com made the claim that 90 Somalis and two Kenyans arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, accompanied by security officials from the United States, heightening fears of a crackdown on Muslims in the U.S.
No independent verification was available, but the claim – and the over-reaction, can be refuted by simple logic.
First, there is no “Muslim registry,” and no proposal to institute one.
Secondly, of course, deportation proceedings are carried out according to a legal process, which takes time and must follow carefully laid out procedures, meaning any deportation order for these 92 Muslims would have been initiated long ago during the Obama administration.
The deliberate campaign of the media to portray the new president as a rabid nationalist or fascist intent on persecuting Muslims has provoked riots in the streets on Inauguration Day, Madonna’s fantasy threats to “blow up the White House” at the so-called “Women’s March” the day after, and even heard former Secretary of State Madeline Albright who self-identifies as, “a Jewish Episcopalian who was raised a Catholic,” declare that she will register as a Muslim.
The Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) will no doubt be protesting in outrage on the various cable news programs during the weekend.
