The all-new 2018 Volvo XC90, which made its world debut last month in Geneva, is hitting US shores next week at the 2017 New York Auto Show. Volvo’s best-selling model is the first of Volvo’s new mid-size 60 Series line that will include a new S60 sedan and V60 wagon. With crossovers all the rage, the outgoing model had its best year ever in 2016. Expect big things from the new one.
Like the larger Volvo XC90, the new XC60 wears Volvo’s handsome new design language developed by a team led by Senior Vice President of Design Thomas Ingenlath. At launch, the XC60 will offer three powertrains, a 250 hp T5 turbo four-cylinder, a 316 hp T6 turbo and supercharged four-cylinder, and a powerful 400 hp T8 plug-in electric hybrid. Don’t rule out a fuel efficient three cylinder further down the line.
The 2018 Volvo S90 will also be on display in New York, though that car debuted last year for the 2017 model year. Like the XC60 and XC90, the S90 is based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture, sharing powertrains with the pair of SUVs.The XC60 is set to go on sale sometime later this year.
