LaVar Ball, the father of UCLA star Lonzo Ball, has been outspoken about his son, and he has no intention of back down.
Earlier this week, LaVar said that Lonzo would be the first player drafted with his own brand. He’s also claimed that his son is currently better than two-time MVP Steph Curry. On Thursday, LaVar once again didn’t pass up on an opportunity to talk about Lonzo.
Speaking to ESPN’s Jovan Buha, LaVar made a case for Lonzo as the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA draft.
“Lonzo should be No. 1 because he’s the only player in the draft that can make everyone else around him better, as you can see that with UCLA. Why shouldn’t he be No. 1? He’s earned it. Nobody else is playing like him. Nobody else is doing what he’s doing. He’s selling out arenas. He’s making all his players better. Why shouldn’t he be No. 1? How do you start your franchise without that guy?”
Lonzo has already made it clear that this season would be his only year at UCLA, and if LaVar gets his wish, Lonzo will be with the Lakers next season.
