Know that while you are despised and a sick, sick f&$k, I am also grateful to you…
Editor’s note: On Tuesday, March 7, 2017, 14 bomb threats were called in or emailed to Jewish institutions in 10 states across the U.S., bringing the total number of such incidents over the first 2.5 months of 2017 to 135. This time, in addition to targeting Jewish Community Centers (JCCs), threats were also received by four offices of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) — in Atlanta, Boston, New York and Washington, D.C.
While public awareness is growing in regard to these threats to JCCs, as well as to the recent incidences of vandalism at Jewish cemeteries in Philadelphia, St. Louis, and Rochester, NY, the number of other such anti-Semitic threats and resulting evacuations at synagogue day schools — as well as the rising incidence of swastikas and anti-Semitic slurs found at elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and colleges throughout the country — demand far more concentrated focus from the public, government and law enforcement.
Lisa Kudish Rosenburg, the mother of two young children, has written this letter to the unidentified-as-yet perpetrators of these hate crimes. Here it is.
I’ve made a concerted effort to tone down my use of expletives since my kids have started repeating whatever I say. So here goes:
To the motherf$&@?ers who continue to threaten our JCCs, day schools and other Jewish institutions,
Know that while you are despised and a sick, sick f&$k, I am also grateful to you.
No, I cannot stomach how you are stealing our children’s innocence each day, how you are traumatizing children — and their parents — with every evacuation. I feel ill that my 2.5-year-old has experienced drills in his preschool to prepare for G-D forbid a shooter or a bomb threat.
But I am grateful to you, too.
Because our schools, which were prepared before, are so much better prepared now.
Because you are motivating us to create the most secure environments possible to protect our babies from your cohort of psychotic, evil, non-humans.
Because you are strengthening our community after a terribly divisive time.
There is no “aisle” or “I’ll” when it comes to keeping OUR children safe. We unite — fiercely — in a shared mission.
Don’t mess with us. You have no chance.
You are also ensuring that our children learn — albeit too early — that we always need to be vigilant. That our faith is worthy of protecting … and they will carry THAT with them into the future, as leaders and as parents themselves.
We, humanity, are in this together.
As for you — your pathetic existence and your hate isolate you from anything good and true in this world. While that should in some way be punishment enough to you, you are too sick to recognize it. So I look more forward to the day that law enforcement finds you — and they will — and sends you exactly where you belong.
To hell.
Your Day Is Coming.
And when it does, we will rejoice in the safest, most loving schools in the world.
— A Mom
